I just got a mangrove tree!

Just got a mangrove tree from my neighbor who ordered about a dozen of them. It's about 8 inches tall and has a pretty decent root system. I was told that I should just suspend the plant in the water with the top sticking out of the water, roots dangling in the water. Is this OK or do I need to stick the roots in sand? I've read that I should rinse the leaves off with FW. Any other care requirements?

sounds like you have the correct info!! it is very important to rinse those leaves off. that is how the tree gets rid of excess salt in its system. if they are not rinsed off than the salt builds up on the leaves and the mangrove will then drop them to export the salt. eventually if all of the leaves go away it will die.

as long as the leaves are above the water you can do put it anywhere you want.
