I have a slight fluctuation in water lvl of my sump, can I ditch the vacuum hose ?

its a little too long and I have it stretched out but there is a portion of it that does a slight incline before hitting the sump, I think this is the reason for the fluctuation. Its a very small fluctuation but its enough to set my skimmer to skim from wet to clear so I had to turn it down a bit to counter this,

So I can skim wet again can I actually use hard pvc piping to connect to sump? Any of you guys do this? I could do a couple unions on it and a ball valve also.

This would make it so that I could have the decline I'm looking for.

What do you guys think?

how cyclic are these fluctuations? the back pressure in a hose from drain would give very quick cyclic fluctuations. generally way to quick for a skimmer to react either way. i would put the blame on the return pump. do you have a foam filter on the inlet for the return pump? what kind of pump is it? what kind of skimmer is it? is it needlewheel driven?

do you have a baffle in the sump to control the water level in the skimmer section?

baffle in sump area no, needlwheel yes, poisedon ps1 pump, no foam filter, There is a filter on the return drain though where it goes into the sump, one of those blue pad filters, the skimmer reacts instantly to any changes in water lvl,

huh you say return pump though huh, man that would suck, maybe I just need a new type of skimmer
