I gotta stop buying stuff!

If you saw my post in the morning thread then you know how my day was planned. It went off without a hitch; visited my friend, dropped off the frag, took pics but didn't get any shrimp since they're not ording right now due to the gosh darned heat. I took a bunch of pics and I'll post those later if any are worthy! Then I went to the third fishy store and Spike was there (our club coral guru) and I ended up getting a deal and coming home with two corals for $30... a trumpet coral which I've wanted short of forever, he told me it would be ok with the horses, and it just fluoresces soooo green! It has 4 heads I think... then I got *drumroll* an eagle eye zoo!!!! Little guy has like, 30 polyps at least! I can't wait to get them acclimated, in and open so I can post pics! Right now they're floating and I'm going to acclimate them slow, I'd hate to lose either one!
Almost time for pizza!!! It's been a good day, hope everyone else is enjoying it as well!

Planning 90 gallon predator tank

Okay so I am getting a 90 gallon tank with sump, mh lighting, the works. I am looking at doing a predator tank. Thinking black volitan, trigger, puffer, snowflake eel for fish. It says they are reefsafe but no inverts. Any suggestions? I will keeping sand, some water, and all the plants in the refugi. I know moving will set off the sand and will not be putting anything in the tank until numbers and such get right. Mainly want to know about the fish I want to keep. Is that too much for a 90? And do I go lighter on the rock since the fish are going to be bigger? Can a couple of large stars go in it once it stabilizes to keep the sand clean?

Oh that trumpet is so neat! It has little tentacles sticking out and even my hubby was interested! The zoos are opening up already which really surprised me! You can get an idea of how big of a clump it is for $16.99! I didn't think it was a bad price anyways. Can't wait for them to settle in so I can get some good actinic shots!

Hey, the trumpet, right now it's on the sandbed leaning against a rock. Will it be ok down there or should it be up high by the lights?

a question; will the trumpet sting/kill button polyps, mushrooms or xenia? Just don't want to wake up to a disaster!

Wish I could take pictures like that. I bought some new polyps today too. They opened right up for me and now about 4 hours later they look even better than the picture.

You would be surprised at how long sweeper tentacles can be on candy canes.....Keep a good eye on other corals in the area.

FWIW, I'm not sure if those are "eagle eyes", as mine are definitely different....BUT they are some SWEET zoos no matter what you want to call them! www.zoaid.com has some pretty good shots of "named" zoos....at least what they are commonly called by most reefers.

Note about the Caulastrea, my green trumpets tend to feed during the daylight hours while the brown/green combo will only feed at night time. They really enjoy some cyclopeeze/ mysis target fed to them.

I run T5 lighting and mine do best on the sand in my experience....

Enjoy!! I too have the addiction.......I found some orange ricordia I couldn't pass up the other day!

EDIT: Cobray, do you turn your flash OFF when you shoot pictures?? Looks like the flash is on in your shots.....I get MUCH better pictures when I turn off the flash, use a tripod (on timer) and use a Macro setting zoomed out....then you can zoom in with a photo processing program and crop to size....HTH

I always shoot both with then without a flash, then decide which one I like best. No tripod, but I will try the Macro. Thanks for the tips.
