I got my skimmer today!

My beautiful new Aqua Remora C arrived today. I've read people having problems putting this in. It was so simple! It came with the Maxi 1200. I hid it behind the rock, it is invisible!

I live in Metro-Detroit, we have the best water in the world. All of the fish stores refuse to use RO/DI's because of this, they all use tap water, successfully. But I wonder about phosphate. Is this something I should be testing and worrying about?

70 gallon tank. The skimmer is making a little noise, but the directions said that will go away after a while. Its breaking in of course, no foam yet. How does high phosphate affect the tank? Thanks again! Liz

High phosphate levels are a big contributor to cyano (red slime algea) outbreaks

Ok, now do you control it? The fish stores tell me we do get high phosphates.

and THAT is the magic question...

There's quite a bit in the archives that will make your head spin...do an advanced search for key word phosphates and user name "Spanky"....

or just click on this... http://www.thereeftank.com/forums/se...searchid=75570
