I finally figured out my Skimmer Problem

Thank for all you help in the bi-weekly discussion we just had. Yesterday finally figured out the problem. Thanks to Jena's thread making me think about calculating flows. I found out that my UV even for its size is taking over a third of the pressure/flow away my pump. This then is not feeding the skimmer an appropriate flow to function properly. I removed the UV from the line and whala! skimmer action. Sad part is that now I need to get another pump to feed the UV unless of course I replumb my recirc pump manifold. Not.

I just purchased the pump for the UV and will check flow directly from the outlet, figure that I theoretically have about 2' of head in the piping then see what I lose in the UV. It is probably a good time to make sure that it is clean anyway. I might as well clean my sump at the same time. Looks like my day is planned!

Edit: On a side note, my Powder blue has had ick pretty bad. At least I thought that it was bad. My skimmer has been working actually working for 12 hours and I cannot see the ick on him or on any of the others.

Have to wait awhile on the testing. The pump housing is broken and it is too late to get a replacement. I did get the sump all cleaned out though. Dangit I wwanted the UV running for a few cays before my coral get here.
