I blame you.....
Hey everyone,
After my skimpy amount of rock being made fun of......you twisted my arm to go spend 100$$ on more rock. LOL. Here are a couple of shots.

Hey guys, are these the "before" shots?? Either that, or we've just answered Spanky's question about the most expensive LR!

Barren, but more filtering capacity. It'll get there. Honestly, I'd check out some of the online vendors - or look for people in your area getting out of the hobby.
Amazing how expensive rock is... at least you were able to get some nice pieces!
(If you were closer, I'd volunteer my sump and 'fuge to make some cheap dead rock "live" for you.)
It's getting there,
Danielle

Yeah, that's the way to go.... I got about 80 pounds of dead rock from my friend about 4 months ago.... It's very much alive and starting to cover in algae now...

i just found this place today but they claim to offer lr straight from the marshall islands for only 2.00 a pound.
here is the website:
www.oceanlife-int.com
seems to be very concerned with preserving the reef.

i'd be careful with that live rock dont add to much at once. i think your pushing it a little. learn to be patient with your additions.
on a more serious note with my first 55 gallon reef i had about as much rock as you. i thought 25 pounds and the 150.00 i spent was going to fill my tank. then i ordered a 50 pound box and forgot to drain some water out before adding the rock. i had my first butt chewing from the wife about saltwater on the carpet.

steve, next time, just buy some dead or base rock now. check out www.hirocks.com and also reefdave hasa nother link that i cant think of off hand, that has some rock that is more porus, so you actually get more rock for the dollar. (ie bigger pieces per pound)
the only thing dead rock is goign to do is take a while to get live. you dont seem in a rush to get the tank stocked. looks like you've got some patience and that's a good thing.
but, that's jsut what i would do. some people can see the sense in spending a thousand dollars on a tank full of live rock. i cant. i'd rather spend a hundred or two, and wait a little longer.
btw: live rock here is also 5.99 a pound.
