I AM SICK OF MY WET/Dry
ok this what it looks like
http://thereeftank.com/forums/attach...4&d=1159487100
now imagine the return pump under the milk crate and the ASM G2 on the right. I can really get any of the bad stuff because it goes back in the display. its not that the asm and return pump dont fit in that compartment but when they are in there together i get microbubles back into the tank and also the pump vibrates againt the sump. before it would put out alot of gunk out but now that the return pump is under the milk crate its not pulling out anything. If you look closely the top section were the return hose and filter spong is the whole ceileing comes off with the bottom section so i am thinking of just making my own sump out of a glass tank. my plan is to (dont know dimension yet) get a longer tank about maybe a foot longer and move the wet dry section in there and make my own baffels. so this is my plan. On the right side there will be the wet dry on the middle i will put the ASM G2 soon to have gate valve mod then i will but another baffel but on this baffel i will place a mechanical sponge to stop any micro bubbles then on the 3rd right conrner i will put the return pump ill try to make a diagram right now lol i am at work what do you think guys can this work OH and what do i use to glue the baffles in sides of the tank.

If your trying to run a reef then a longer tank, with baffels (so the middle is always level for the skimmer (other than a power out) will work fine. Forget the wet dry all together. If you can sell your wet dry sump you could recoup some of the cost

well I would ditch the bioballs and the sponge. the 3 baffles should be enough to stop any bubbles. if its glass attached to glass, use aquarium safe silicone. If its acrylic to acrylic use weldon 16 .... or atleast i think its 16

nope, a stronger pump is not desireable, IMO.
Attach what to what, I am unclear what you decided on. Sylicone is fine for non structure, low pressure situations, even acylic to glass).

well i just wanted to use the tabs that hold the return put they are about 2 inches wide and they are made of acrylic i just wanted to stick them to the glass because a glass tank would be cheaper imo

ditch the bioballs, drip tray, and then have the drain hose go to the bottom of the sump. then install one baffle in the middle and one before the return and that should work... put a 90 degree elbow facing down on the intake of your pumps and that will eliminate the microbubbles getting into your tank.

I have the same piece of crap type wet/dry sump you have. I've removed everything out of it I can and use it empty. It still sucks because it's too small and has no baffles. Looking for a berlin style sump now.

you could ditch the bio balls, remove the milk crate and lid and use that as the skimmer chamber.
