Need Hypo for Aptasia Problem !

Okay I've asked at several pharmacies & medical supply stores & no one wants to sell me a hypodermic. (And I'm not too fond of the strange looks I get when I try to explain what I want it for!)

I've considered visiting the shady parts of Houston & asking where they get theirs but I really don't want to be arrested for intent to purchase narcotics

Can anyone help me out here? Is it legal to mail one to me? I am going to be partially tearing down my tank soon to rid it of the &*$^% bicolor & purchase some pepps...but I have a few rather monstrously large aptasia that will require killing.

HELP!

If you have a vet nearby they will probably be more receptive to giving you one. Also, I got one from the LFS (yes I said the LFS). Cost me $5, but I needed it. Good luck.

Actually I was at the vet a few weeks ago with my cat & was going to ask but by the time the visit was over & I got the news of his ailment (he had been bitten in the neck by another cat & possible punctured his trachea) I had other things on my mind.

UPDATE.....after I posted this thread I mentioned my delima to a co-worker who knew that I really had a reef tank & wouldn't take me for a junkie, and she said she was a diabetic & would bring me one tomorrow.

But....this might be a thread of interest to those in my same predicament.

Cool. Sorry about the cat, but glad you are getting the syringe. Now the fun of trying to kill off those bloody Aiptasia. I'm still trying (2 months straight), but I think my peppermint shrimp are finally doing their job.

Good luck to you.

FWIW, my cat was diabetic and we had no problem asking for a box of needles from most pharmacies. I think maybe if you ask for one, you may sound more suspicious than if you go for the whole box as twisted as that sounds . HTH

If you have test kits laying around, they usually come with a 5cc syringe. You don't need a needle on it to zap the kalk. Just use the plastic syringe and rinse it well when done..otherwise the kalk will get hard on it. Use a different one for measuring water for test kits.

Now someone tells me ..... thanks Brooke! Now I get to search the threads to refresh my memory of how to prepare the Kalk / Pickling Lime. Do I nuke it in the microwave or just straight up?
