how to cure baserock???

my other thread isnt doing so well so i thought maybe this would be a better title.

i purchased 25lbs of baserock for my display, i have it in a 18gal tank right now with a mj1200, heater, and 130wat pc light.

should i not run the lights?

how long should i cure it for before its safe to put in my main tank?

will there be much die off on dry base rock?

any other tips?

thanks

See the how to in the BB fourm about Rock Cooking by ShawnT, that's what I would do, but I would throw a little live rock (Like a pound or two) to kick start the process.

When i did the new base rock for my 72 gallon i had it in a 29 gallon tank with two power heads and a heater no light. I added a pound or two of LR then i just kept an eye on the ammonia and nitrites and nitrates.
