Yup, getting off a rough rock is near impossible, but smooth surface like back wall is perfect. If you wanted to attach I would try superglue gel if you cant just lay it on the surface.

How long would it take to attach normally(dunno how it'll grow as of yet, though both polyps are open, I also think the mat may have been twisted onto the rock. Hm.)? Or what sort of superglue should I get/avoid? Are there any I could use underwater?

Most any superglue gel, some people use loctite, I use dollarstore "The original" gel, I honestly don't think it matters as long is its basic gel and nothing special. Its great underwater that whyt its prefered, it doesn't drip off your frag and land on corals and other things. I put some on my finger and rub into spot I want to put frag then add glue to frag and contact the 2 pieces together in the tank, should take abou 3-5 second before you can let go. Sometimes you will need to rub them together a little first because when you put them underwater then develop a film on the outside thats not tacky. Works perfect.

I would rather have aiptasia and majano in my tank than GSP. The stuff is invasive and can bother and smother other corals that you like. At least i can easily kill majano and aiptasia.......
Kalk paste doesnt kill it very well....cooking your rock doesnt kill it at all.......
a BLOW torch DOES kill it. Stinks the house up though.....lol
The smell is still lingering in my house from when i found a little patch that i torched just this morning.
I know some people like it...........but the above is how i feel about the stuff.

you can put the rock its on away from the rest of the reef like in the sand not touching and that can keep it away. Or up on overflows and walls away from the reef
I hear that works fine....but i think most peo0ple who have ever encountered other coral losses or a huge PITA trying to remove the stuff from their reef.......it ceases to be very attractive real quick : )

it's funny to me how the "easy" stuff now looks like reef weeds later!

Hehehe, my tank is going to look like that soon. I've got anthelia that is already starting to grow like mad(got it, what? The 14th of last month) Had 2 polyps to start with, now there are at least 4 small ones near its base.
Heh. The weed part is why I want mine to attach to the back. That way I can see if it is growing too much and just rip a chunk off of the glass if need be
