How tall is your Stand????
I was just wondering about the different heights of peoples aquarium stands. I just build my stand frame for my 180 and it is 42" tall, to the bottom of the tank. Height of the stand is always a question, I guess it is just personal preferece...lets hear what you have!!!!!

I like it tall so the tank is eye level.

Floor to tank = 36"
Top of Tank = 48"
Top of canopy =60"
Keep in mind these tank are VERY top heavy. The higher you go the more unstable it is.

Looks like I have everyone beat so far @ 42". I guess I am wondering just cause I have already built my stand frame at 42" to bottom of tank, that puts the top just over my eye level but makes it kinda hard to get into without a ladder.

My stand for the 75 was 40". At 6' tall I was just able to get an arm over the top, I used a step stool, a lot

Mine's a little taller, but only by a sheet of oak plywood! 42.75" to the bottom of my tank, then 24" tank, then a 14" canopy. I have four foot ladder in the house to access the tank, but I love the height.

Chris, are those dimension right? Your tank is only 12" tall? It could be, it just seems pretty shallow if it's your 75 gallon.
If you build or buy a good stand, being top heavy shouldnt matter at all. If a tank has any lean in it, or the stand has a shimmy to it, you've got problems regardless of how tall it is.

I havent build my canopy yet, just the stand frame. So I am looking like 42" + 24"(tank) + 12" +/- for canopy. An overall height of 6.5' from floor to canopy top isnt bad. My current tank is 36" to the tank bottom and it is a little short...I hate having to slump over to peer in.

My original stand was 27", modeled from another stand, which put the tank at perfect viewing height while sitting down, but left too little room to work with equipment in the sump, with only 23" clearance. I rebuilt the stand with longer legs, giving me 36" clearance for sump area and 40" overall, putting the tank at decent viewing height for both standing and sitting.
This is for a 20" tall 55g tank.
