how often should you replace a heater

Mine seem to be acting up a bit...i can't seem to fine tune them lately.
they are the AGA unbreakable ones.

I replace my heaters every time they start giving me trouble.

Your heater will be much more relaible if you use it on an external temp controler, but it is an expesive sulution.
