I want to say THANK YOU to all of you that helped me a few months back with the very sick surgeonfish at the museum I work at. He didn't make it, but my other one is still hanging in there.
I finally getting all this under control....I may even introduce some Ipsf snails soon..
Anyhow.. I get many many visitors who want to "get" some marine fish. I usually discourage people, because as you know, you don't just "get" some. You invest in some. Its a hobby, and even a lifestyle. There are those that don't believe how difficult it can be. But the expense usually throws them off the trail. I may be exaggerating, but I say that that will cost about $1000.00 to start a large tank and an additional $200.00 and 20 hours of care/wk. Would you agree? More? I really think most people shouldn't...My rule of thumb; if they have to ask...I tell them not to do it.
(I've taken care of elephants professionally...and marine tanks are harder!!)
Also; I have a very wierd cichlid problem. Simplified; Red gills. I can't find this an in any of my fish health books. Anyone know any freshwater chat boards?
Thanks!!
