How much is too much current? and how can you tell?

i recently got my second maxi-jet 1200 working again and im my skimmer back on the tank. i have a 75 gallon tank and one PH in the left rear corner facing the front glass and another in the right rear corner spraying across the back glass creating a circular current left across the back glass and right across the front glass.

how can i tell if this is too much?

thanks

josh

It depends on the corals you want to keep. IMO, 2 mj12s and a hob skimmer in a 75 is very minimal flow, particularly if you want to keep any sps. You might want to consider a closed loop like this one http://www.melevsreef.com/closedloop.html
I have one very similar to it and it works great.

To put it in perspective for you pauliewalnuts, I ahve a 37 gallon cube tank (so very little distance for any flow to dissipate) I have 2 maxijets (600gph total), an aquaclear 500 refugium (500 gph) and my sump return (400 gph) I would put another 2 maxijets in the tank, but I think it would start to look too crowded.

I agree that it isnt too high of a flow. In my 55 I had 2200gph with my closed loop and sump return. That was a bit of movement in a 55!
