how many inches before putting an elbow on the intake of a dart?
I was curious as to how much distance I need to put between the pump and the elbow on the intake of a sequence dart. Thanks

You really dont want less than 5", but this is much more crucial if you are plumbing it with 1.5" in than if you are plumbing it with the 2" in.
Done right with as minimal of restrictions and plumbing it with 2 - 1.5" bulkheads feeding the pump, you can get away with not losing any flow and plumbing those darts with 1.5" in. 2" is better and makes some the specifics of your plumbing less important.

sounds good. Im thinking of going from two 1.5" inputs going into a tee. from the tee it will stay at 1.5 until it reaches a 2" 90, then a 2" single union ball valve and the ball valve will go into the pump

If you are going to do it that way Armando, why dont you just use a 2" T with two 2" to 1.5" reducing bushings for the buolkhead inputs to plug into........then 2" all the way from the T to the pump??
Its no more work and will be easily providing the pump what it needs with no restrictions.

I figure doing it with the 1.5 tee will wont take up as much room so I can put the tank as close to the wall as possible

What's really going to be your problem getting it close to the wall will be the 1.5" bulkheads with the 90's in them. They stick out (even using street 90's) about 4-5" if I remember correctly. That's much more than the width of a 2" tee fitting. Unless you do some custom setup with your bulkheads, off the shelf bulkheads and 90's are going to need ~5" behind your tank. I was worried about it too but 4-5" doesn't look so bad. Plus I have some BV's behind there I need to get to and the extra space is nice. Before my CLS my tank was like 2" from the wall and I couldn't even get my hand back there. It was a real PITA.
I'd do like Fly says, 2" all the way to a 2" tee and then use 2" to 1.5 adapters. That's what I did. Too bad you don't live close because I have a ton of 2" and 1.5 and 3/4" spa flex.

Ive been researching for a while. I never found short 3/4 bulkheads but i figure that using street els on the back of them would still be short enough that it would be even with the 1.5" plumbing
