How do I make this power supply work???

Well I put some computer fans in my nano hood to cool it a bit, other than buy a 12 volt power supply, I opted to use a computer power supply that I had laying around to stay within my 50 dollar budget. easy enough right ?? Well now I realize it requires connection to a motherboard to be switched on and off, or so I assume. I know for an absolute fact that it works, but when I plug it in and flip the switch.....nothing. Do I need to jump a couple of wires in one of the pigtails to act like a switch, If so which ones. Does anyone know. Please help, I know there are some computer guru types here somewhere..

Yes. When you attach the power supply to the mobo it completes the circuit. You need to complete the circuit without the mobo.

I just dont know how to complete the circuit, I know that 2 or so wires in the large connector will need to be connected, but who knows which, I wonder if the wiring configuration of these connectors is universal for all power supplies and all motherboards ?? Im hesitant to just start jumping wires, afraid Ill have a meltdown or worse.. Anyone know ?? Im sure its simple as heck ..
