How bad is flake food?
I have to admit that i use flake food for my fish main feed. How bad is it really? Canister says it's low in phosphate and has all of these nutrients for the fish. I also alternate with cyclopeeze and feed every other day. So far I have no significant nuisence algae, am I OK, or am I headed towards algae land?

LOW IN PHOSPHATE, but still present, then again anything you feed will have some, so it comes down to how how you deal with the after math. The Cyclopeeze might be good for roughage but I would certainly add a dash of Selcon to your flake to supplement what may be missing and SKIM big

I use flake food along with a number of other types of food, while I'm on vacation all the fish get is flake.
I think it is fine, but shouldn't be your only food, mix in some Misys, nori, etc too.
IMHO

Flake Food
I always have flake food around...At times new fish wont eat the other things I have so I throw in some flakes and "Gulp Gulp Gulp".... I tend to put in SMAAAALLLL amounts at a time so very few flakes ever see the bottom....
Otherwise I generally use mysis, nori, clams, squid & various colors of seaweed (green,purple,red).. Oh and some sponge type food for the Coral Beauty...

You know what? I just remembered something, my back tank, the one I never touch, the Softie tank, it's fish get nothing but flake food every day I never walk all the way back there with the frozen stuff. I feel kinda bad for those fish now I used to feed them pellets too, but stoped that as well when I ran out.
I need more pellets,
Whiskey

OK, I don't feel so bad now. I was worried that my tank was the only one not getting blender mush. With my DSB, I was worried that I was adding too much waste into the system. I do skim wet and am blowing detritus off the rocks every night.
