Question

Home for a Clown?

Hello All,

I'm comtemplating the next addition to my tank and had a question. I have a beautiful maroon/gold clown that seems to need a host. He seems to have adopted my overflow box, or possiblt the powerhead next door and I'd like him to come down to the viewable area of the tank. I know better than to go buy an anemone of any kind so that's out. I heard that long tentacle plate corals are possible, and bubble corals are better. Also heard that plates can be mobile. I have a deep tank (30") and don't think my 440W VHO will be good for a plate on the substrate at that depth. What about a torch? I have a frogspawn that's doing awesome so suspect I'd have good luck with about any LPS that I can place on the rocks. Any ideas??

Thanks,
Jeeper

You're right, that's a lot of depth for a plate coral.

Your clown hasn't shown any interest in the frogspawn, eh? Well, there's no telling what they'll take up with as a subsitute host for their anemone. Since you already have a frogspawn, maybe a bubble would be a good choice. You can also always go for something simpler like frilly/fuzzy mushrooms, Ricordea polyps or star polyp if you don't have any already. I've had clowns host in all of those. As well as an open brain, sun polyps, feather duster...like I said, no telling!
