Hinges for hood

hi everyone.

I am in the process of building a new hood and am unable to find stainless steel hinges for it. I am looking for a piano hinge and lid support hinges for a new hood.

my home depot only has brass...no good. growing up on the east coast...near the jersey shores...i know that when salt water is involved...stainless is the only way to go!

I have searched the threads and did not see anything. does anyone have any info of an online supplier to fit this need?

Any help is allways appreciated.

Joe

I have used brass piano hinges on top of the canopy. I use a clear coat on the and silicone before installing, never had a problem, ideally salt creep doesnt get up there

The brass hinge on my last canopy still looked good after 5 years of use. The only corrosion on it was from the metal hinge pin.

I didn't hesitate to use another brass hinge on the new canopy we just finished up. =)

Try a place that sells maine/boat products.

Online, West marine does a good job and their prices are pretty reasonable...

Try www.louisandcompany.com
Its a cabinet hardware company. Stainless is overkill, IMO. Brass or any clear-coated finish should be fine. Besides, by the time the hinge starts showing signs of rust, won't it be time for a new tank?

Thanks everyone. I was not sure if brass would hold up since the ugly top i use now has no hinges.

I will follow the brass advice and clear coat it. And EMAT...As for a new tank....well....i made the mistake and tried to see if that would fly!!!! But it was shot down from the director of home aquisitions.....

Thanks again eveyone

Joe the trick is to have the tank be high on the list of home furnishings
That means putting together an awesome setup that wows everyone who visits. IF you master this please clue me in
