how are you testing the salinity? hydrometer or refractometer? if hydrometer i would get a second opinion before you do anything else.

did you have sand in the tank that you tried to move?

just wondering why the tank crashed.

trying to save an old sand bed is not a good idea. far to much can go wrong. it is best to replace a sand bed whenever you move a tank.

i would definitely test your water using a refractometer before you do anything else.
