just wanted to start a new thread on the snail thing from IPSF.
I still hold that the ones that I got from the customer of mine are not strombus. As near I can tell they are some type of nassarius. He has them breeding in his tank, and I could probably do some trading with him for a few every now and again. He is going to email IPSF and find out anything that they can tell him. I put a few in my tank at home, and have not seen any sort of alge eating behavior at all. I have studied them when they are on the glass, and there does not seem to be any sort of radula. My trochus, astrea, nerites, and other unidetified snails, as well as my
strombus snails all have some form of snout, and that contains the alge gathering aparatus. these guys have what appears to be a small forked snout. anyway, Hope noone takes this as a dig at IPSF. they are a fantastic company, and being in the LFS biz, I have lots of respect for thier principals of sustainable harvest.
catch you online,
