I was just attemping to feed the Banggais this evening and I scared them. The male spit this thing out. Is this what I think it is?

looks like a fertilized egg! Cool! Did he eat?..or is he still refusing food? Are his cheeks puffy?

Looks like you might have babies on the way!

Thats what we were thinking. His cheeks are extremely puffy. It is amazing that they are already mating considering we only got the on Saturday. Neither of them have eaten yet. They both headed for the rocks when I blasted the area with the turkey baster full of PE Mysis shrimp (I haven't use a turkey baster in the tank before and greatly underestimated it's power). What are the chances that the egg will hatch outside of the male? We have it in the tank inside a perforated specimen container where it gets a little water flow, but can't be reached by predators.

Strange that the female didn't eat..ours is a piglet. She loves the pe mysis. I have no idea if that egg will develop..My guess would be no. But if it did, it sure would be fascinating to watch!

So count ahead about 23 days and that will be your approximate hatch date.

Mine "mated" fairly soon after introducing them to the tank as well.

Time to set-up a nursery tank!

Thanks Dick! I tried another brand, but I couldn't get him to pee on the strip. Maybe i will have more luck with your suggestion.

You know Andrew, at the beginning I was really impressed with the neat water mark you had on that picture of the eggs. I looked at it to see what filters you used in Adobe Photoshop to create it.

Then I realized that it was the bottom of a glass.

I need to not stress about work.
