Hermit ID?
Meet my little buddy "Evil, The Evil Hermy"
He's not *so* evil... I don't think. But he's more hyper than a puppy with ADHD, which sometimes annoys other guys in the tank, but 2 weeks now and no one's dead or ailing... He seems to calm if I feed him by hand once a day.. (Not A LOT calmer, but a bit..)
I'm quite in love with him, actually... but I've never seen a hermit like him, and I'm hoping he's going to be safe.... If he's not, I'm tempted to start up just a teeny little tank just for him or something, he's my little buddy, that Evil The Evil Hermy!
Anyone got any input on what he is, and/or if he's safe? (And no offense, please... I don't *really* care to hear from people who are strict hermit-haters saying "OH NOS NOTTA HERMIT! BAD BAD NO HERMITS!"... I am of the hermit-liking reefers club .)

Thanks! I like yer answer & I'm sticking to it
I have tons (well, really like maybe 100 or more) empty shells in MANY various sizes.... None of my hermits bug my snails.....
though they'd maybe only consider it if I didn't have good shows on the TV for entertainment all day...

BTW, though... he is seriously large for a hermit.... Much bigger than my others... almost as big as my mexican turbo snail, and he's a big hombre!

YEAH!!! ME TOO!
I don't understand all the hub-bub.
If you put new shells in from time to time (which are like $2), they are fine.
I set my tank up 1 year ago today, with 6 astrea snails and over 20 hermits. I've added shells maybe 4 times.
I still have ALL 6 snails. And while I've never caught them...I'm PRETTY sure my hermits are multiplying!
they are probably my favorite thing to watch. Quite comical.
never had a problem with 'em.
That's a beauty you got there. I vote for "KEEP HIM!"

Thanks!
I have a ton of shells... I have way more that are still on stand-by, for when the ones IN there become blase... $2 you say? Cheap!
I got my shells for $1500.... But that's only 'cos I went to Australia to pick 'em up on the beach
