This is in the wrong place ask in general chat.

Will say this... If your yellow tang has established territory in your tank and there is not enough room in the tank for the other tang, the yellow tang will most likely kill it. When I say enough room I mean like a 6 foot long tank or longer. Your best bet is to remove one of the tangs.

Its trying to stay away from the yellow tang. The yellow tang doesn't have to do anything to it to kill it. The sight of the yellow tang will be all that is needed in a small tank. Its geneticly built into tangs as a survival instinked.

Yellow tangs and purple tang and salfin / desjardinii are all in the same family, thus they have the same body shape and can very very possibly fight.

There are some techniques you can try to stop the fighting.
1) rearrange the rocks in the tank turn off the light and re-introduce them into the tank at the same time again.

What sized tank is it? If its not 6 foot... I personally wouldn't bother with anything other than getting rid of one. I'm sure there are others who would disagree. But yellow tangs are nasty when it comes to other tangs.

I just read your other thread. You have too many fish in that tank for my taste. I'm setting up a 225 and you are about at my limit for it and you only have a 55. A 55 is almost too small for one tang. It is your tank and you can put as many fish of what ever kind you want in it but you asked why your brown tang is acting funny... It is scared to death of the rest of the fish in that tank and it wants to run away but it can't cause there is glass in its way.
