The first thing I would do is put a gate valve on the skimmer. It would be much quieter and easier to adjust. With the gate valve mod you can also direct the discharge from the skimmer to a 100 micron filter sock. Most sump designs have the filter sock in line before the skimmer. This robs the skimmer of foam building organics. If it is in line after the skimmer it will help to reduce, or eliminate, micro bubbles as well.
You will need several pieces of glass to build the baffles. This will keep the water level in the skimmer compartment constant and help to reduce micro bubbles. Almost all sumps are designed this way. The problem with this design is that the water level in the skimmer compartment is fixed by the height of the first piece of glass. To adjust the water level the skimmer is sitting in you have to find stuff the shove under the skimmer. This can be a pain if you are trying to fine tune the skimmer. To avoid this you can have the first piece of glass taller than you would need for the skimmer compartment depth. Then drill the glass well below the water level and install an adjustable overflow. All you need is a bulkhead or uniseal and some PVC parts.

What kind of pumps do I need to get the water from the tank to the sump and from the sump to the tan.

I found this desing do you think it will be ok for me?
