Help with power back up plans incase of a power outage

I need to get a battery or something to be able to run say a pump and heater for a few hours in the event of a power outage. What can I use? I have a budget of 300$. Any help iz appreciate, thx

A quick cheap fix is a ac/dc converter. It won't run your whole tank, but you can keep water moving for a short time. Electric motors use more juice when they start. You have to plug in your pumps one at a time. I bought one at Wal Mart that hooks to my car battery. I also have a generator in case it last longer than a little while. I live in the country and they fix the city power way before mine.
