Question

help with installing RO DI

I recently bought an RO DI unit and am getting ready to install it. I have it all figured out except the waste line. the manual that came with it same (make very sure that the waste line is above the trap) this is talking about an under the sink installation, I am however not installing it anywhere near a sink. I was hoping that someone could tell me why it is that it would need to be above a trap... and if I really need it to be above a trap... I was planning on having it connect to a waste line under the house.
I was hoping to install this unit today so I was hoping to get an answer. also if anyone has pictures of an RO DI install that would be nice. I just really need pics of the waste side of it. thanks in advance
steven

I think its to avoid the waste water from the main waste line from backing up into the RO unit.

I think that's only for when installing under a sink. As long as there's no back pressure in the waste line it is connecting to, you should be fine.

How would I know if there is back pressure in a waste line? since the RO DI unit is going to be about 15 ft higher than the waste line should I even be worring about it?

If the ro/di is 15 ft higher than the waste line you should be ok. If the waste line was 15 ft higher than the ro/di then you might get some back pressure.

Agreed, or, for example, if you were tapping into a drain line that connected to an upstairs bathroom, you might get some back pressure when someone flushed the toilet.
