help with euroreef skimmer pump

Hi

Well we just got back from Disney World and yes we was down there friday when they shut down and went thru the big storm once in a life time event Any ways my sedra skimmer went out on me driving my euroreef skimmer.

I tried to use a quietone pump that flows even more water flow but it doesn`t seem to pull the air right it kind of surges unlike the sedra it ran the skimmer so well and never surged.

Any body have a sedra or know what I can use to drive my skimmer or where to kind a sedra at a good price ?My main tank is a 120 with a 75 gallon sump.
thanks all

Ron

Im not sure but don't EuroReef pumps have special impellers or something to make them work better with EuroReef Skimmers?

Yes, these pumps use a needlewheel impeller.

Have you tried soaking the pump in a bucket with water and vinager overnight? You may just have build-up on the inside. If it's the impellar I think they have a lifetime warrenty from ER. Anyway, here is a place to get a replacement pump http://www.h2otropicals.com/Products/ER%20Parts.htm .

zaireguy, your pump that you tried that is surging will probably work, what you need to do is create a special intake, and here is how to do it. On the intake wheter it be 1/2" or 3/4 you need to buy that size pvc adapter that adapts from female, male or whatever it is down to 1/2" slip. Then once you have that cut a piece of acrylic so that it fits snugly into the inside of the 1/2" part and glue it in w/ weldon 16. After that dries drill a 3/8" hole in the plate. Then drill a 1/4" hole in the side of the adapter right behind the plate that you glued in on the intake side of it (the part that screws into the pump. Insert some 1/4" poly tubing into that so that it is about halfway down into the adapter and glue w/ superglue. After all that screw it onto your pump and it should work like a champ untill you can get your sedra fixed.
