I have a small patch of algea that I can't get rid of. It is greenish brown and fuzzy looking. If I let it sit, undisturbed for a month or so, it will get a skin over it that has a bunch of air trapped under it. Any ideas what it is and what will mow this stuff down? My yellow tang won't touch it and I have only seen my snails attack it once in a great while. My branching grape "
frog spawn" has quadrupled in size and has been stinging some
brown polyps that are in the middle of this mess. This is about the time the algea started to form around the polyps. If this is the cause of the algea, I guess it's time to propagate my show piece.
My tank specs:
75 gallon
60 gallons of sump
about 145# of liverock
4" sand bed
Berlin XL skimmer
SG 1.026
amonia 0
nitrete 0
PH 8.3
nitrate 0-5
calcium 400-450
alk 3.5meg/L
The tank has been running for about a year and a half. My PC's are about nine months old and have some new ones on order.
Any info that can help get rid of this stuff would greatly be appreciated.
