Help!! What happened to my montis?

Checked my tank out in the garage today and was horrified by what I saw of my huge Monti coral. More than half of it was covered in green slime and bleached. It was fine yesterday. I checked everything but CA and MG and found my Alk was at ~13Dkh. Yikes. I turned off the CO2 to the CA reactor. Do you think that could have caused this?

Yes, I did turn up my bubble count to try and raise my alk a little. It shot up to 13. I know that's why my Alk was high I was just wondering if that's what caused the Monti problem. None of my other corals look effected.

I doubt if the alk caused it. I shoot for 12 and I'm usually around 13 all the time. I've also seen temp swings cause this .

Hmm, I don't know how the temp could have gone haywire. If we lost power, that'd mean I had no pumps either. I go out in the garage and check it every morning and I didn't see anything abnormal.

No, but I'm sure the problem isn't overheating, it would have to be a cold problem. I have a chiller to prevent overheating. Is there anything about hermit crabs and montis? Are they a problem?

Well, I guess I'll be breaking this sucker up into frags since 2/3's of it is dead. It won't regrow over the dead part will it?

Any swing in salinity? I had a monti digitata bleach out and die after my topoff malfunctioned and the salinity shot up to 1.030
