HELP what are these!?
I think these things came in on my native plants. They are REALLY tiny, multiply extremely fast, arent slugs because they move really fast and shoot all over the glass, they are way too tiny to get pictures of so i made an amateur sketch.. There are 2 kinds as you can see in the drawing. I wouldnt be worried if they stayed in my native tank but i put a piece of macro algae in my biocube and now they are all over all of my tanks! Please tell me they dont eat corals!!!!!!

kind of looks like bill the cat....
Seriously I have no clue
I would check local biology pages since you collected these in cooler waters (If your still living in NY). Odds are that they will die off to some degree once the food source is reduced. I doubt they eat corals, other wise you would not have caught them no where near corals

The ones with the tails deffinetely look like copepods.. Wouldnt my fish eat them? And how fast do copepods reproduce? Because im talking like total infestation! haha in about 2 weeks there are thousands probably.

If there pods, then they are beneficial, part of a healthy tank.

HAHA!!! You guys rock! Seriously though, if they are copepods they can multiply quite fast if you have high nutrient levels. Copepods are fine though, they won't hurt anything so you have nothing to worry about. Honestly, if I had tons and they were multiplying like rabbits I'd be more worried about what's feeding them. High nutrient levels can cause other problems.

I'm sorry the pics didn't look a thing like a typical pod, so I didn't travel down that route... Mine don't drive as fast as you describe anyways. I would still check local avenues.

Yea i know i have high nutrient levels my tanks love to grow hair algae gardens... I have no idea why i do have high nutrient levels but im cooking my rock and getting an RO/DI system soon so that will help.
Hop what would you reccomend i search to find a page with a list of tiny bugs that live in the shallows of the LI sound?
