Have you had your water tested by the LFS? just to double check your tests at home?

No, but i will next time I go. The ploblem is the closest LFS is an 1 1/2 hours away. I'm going to sleep on the idea of putting it up for sale on ebay. Or I may offer it for sale here first.

Timmy I'm sorry your tang died. Sometimes when you have problem even if you correct it you still lose fish because the damage has already been done. Your tang could have already been doomed. What I would do is continue to do water changes and ride it out. Give your tank a month or so to correct itself and I'm sure things will get better.
I will send good thoughts your way.
Patrick

Thanks Patrick for your words of encouragement. Thats what I need. My nitrate is down a little more today, within the safe range. What is the best test kit to get without breaking the bank? Also should I run a UV on my main tank? I was thinking I would put it on a timer.

Timmy is this a reef or a FOWLR? Also what tests do you have? That will also help determine what tests you need

I wouldnt UV your tank if their is any thing in their. The UV will blind fish and "Sun Burn" all critters if it is a class 3. It may cuase your tank to recyle too.

I would make the salt water, Add ur chemicals, then acclimate the fish. Another alterantive is to use some water from your tank to skipp the acclamtion. keep the temps the same and you should be able to toss them back in if thier only in thier for an hour or less. Repet them steps every time you whant to treat your fish. Sorry about the delay. I search the web to show the UV class's and ill post a link to it.

Also Ive work with many type of UV for Electronic Etching, Sterlization, Air purfires, Tanning Beds. Ive damaged my eyes 2 times with UV. Its not pleasant your eyes burn and sting for days. i thought my blindes was permant one but it came back after 3 days!! No way to tell how much my eyes are permantly damaged now or how many more problems I will face in oncoming time.

Thanks Rippey. So I put one of my clowns in the QT tank this morning. He looked so bad that I figured it couldn't hurt. I added some meds to the QT tank, link below. Other than him I only have two fish left. One more clown and a lawnmower blenny. Both look healthy.
