What size is your tank? (I can't ever remember who has what...) Although I'm not a bonafide member of the tang police, that will be the first question they ask.

To know if they'll fight, you need to compare body shapes and colors. If they're close (or even somewhat), I wouldn't chance it.

just my 2c,
Danielle

I don't think that two tangs will do well in a tank that size. Even if they don't fight, they will be cramped and stressed which will lead to disease and most likely death. I know that is not what you wanted to hear, but at least you asked first.

It's better to have tang psychics than tang police; more accurate

They are in two different genus, but they both can get quite large. I'd choose the one you like best and go with it. Putting two potentially large tangs in a 90g isn't a great idea. Save the rest of that room for some smaller colorful fish and just stick with 1 tang.

Given the choice between the 2 I would go with the sailfin, they are fairly hardy and pretty good grazers, easily tamed, they are little piggies. The other is a more aggresive fish and the 2 would stress one another out , better suited for a large tank

Casey,

I have a sailfin. Then I bought three small yellows. The yellows beat the heck out of my sailfin. Even though the three should have keep them selves busy beating each other up. I gave the yellows the boot. Not as pretty as the sailfin!

My 180 reef has a reasonably large Sailfin, then about a year ago I added an Orange Shoulder and a Kole. They all get along great. Occasionaly they "stand off," but overall I think the most important thing is tank size when mixing and matching tangs. MM
