Help – Saltwater Fish Disease

Help! I woke up this morning to find 3-4 of my 10 fish with white spots on them. They're small, and look like tiny puffs of cotton. I'm not sure if they were there yesterday, since my husband fed the fish.

It seems to have affected my Kole Tang, Ruby Head Fairy Wrasse, Firefish Goby, and maybe the Royal Gramma. The two clownfish, two cardinalfish, and two sixline wrasses seem fine.

Attached are a few pictures, though the white spots look worse than what shows up on camera.

Maybe it's just ick..I don't know. Does anyone know what this is & how to treat it? My fish seem impossible to catch, and they're all swimming and eating normally, so I don't know that I could get the infected ones out to quarantine them.

Thanks for any help!

Becky

One more thing

Oh...one more thing. I did turn the temp up a few degrees this morning...since I seem to remember someone saying a small increase in temp can kill ick.

it does look like Ich.
i woudl set up a QT tank, and get all of them treated, you will have to leave the main display empty of fish a few months. it is possble that the ones in the tank that are not sick, will be fine. but .....

If it's only appearing in the morning, before you hit the panic button - see if it's still there by lunchtime. "Morning ich" is not uncommon, and usually subsides by itself without intervention.

Keep in mind that ich is brought on by stress, and adding stress just adds to the problem.

If they still have the spots by lunchtime, or if they get worse, then it's the time to act.

I've seen plenty of fish have "morning ich" almost every day but it always goes away by lunch and no intervention was necessary.

Thanks

Jenn -

Thanks...this might make sense...this particular morning, I turned on the lights ~2 hours earlier than normal to feed, as I am going out of town this weekend. I will have to check the fish when I get home from work.
