Help Needed with my skimmer

Hi all I have a question for anyone that can help

I have had my reef tank set up for about 3-4 weeks now and due to having no sump I have a deltec 300 hang on skimmer. My tank is 100 gal, 460 LTS.

The prob is i hear of all this brown and horrible stuff people say they collect but all i seem to get is white foam. I have to empty about 3-4 times aday also.

I have my air in take fully open

can anyone help?

i had the same problem as you i am just getting over it. when protein skimmers are new they do push alot of foam and liquid. they need time to break in. i dont know if yours does this but on mine you can raise the collection cup to a higher position and not as much foam reaches the collection cup...then you ca slowly lower it as the skimmer calms down. also do you have any liverock or algae in your tank yet? if not then the skimmer has nothing to "skim" yet and you will get no nasty stuff in the collection cup. keep adjusting your skimmer to minimize the foam and liquid and just give it some time.

give it time. The issue is that your tank is new and that the algae is caused by organics in the rock, not in the water.
