Help! Need new heater - What kind?

Hi guys,
Well my fish tank woes continue. I just lost a clown and 2 crabs due to a heater malfunction. The heater has been fine for months and just today did it heat the tank up past 90 degrees - oooowwwww. So I lost some people and I'm getting really frustrated.

So I was wondering if there are better/more reliable brands of heaters out there or ones you guys do or DON'T suggest buying or is this just something that randomly happens.

Thanks-
Mindy

I agree about Visi-Therm but only get the "Stealth" model! They are made of Plastic and will not crack if taken out of water. Even turn themselves on/off when in/out of water. Unbreakable.

Won Pro Heat titanium, the one with the red dial. 5+ years and no problems.

Looks like the brand is called "Radiant" - and it seems like the serpant star is on his way out too. I transitioned him to a cooler tank since it doesn't seem like he can hold on until the old tank cools down. The chromis and Goby seem to be hanging in there while the tank cools. Lets hope they all make it through the night and I can buy a decent heater tomorrow.

Have you guys even heard of a heater malfunction that OVERheats the tank? Normally mine just quit working and STOP heating. Strange.
