Help! My Clown is sick

Hello everyone before I get started I would like to say thank you to all of you. I have been reading through the old post and I have found a wealth of knowledge. It has helped out so much being that I’m very new to this hobby, so really thanks a lot.

Now for my problem I bought a paired set of Ocellari clowns about 2 weeks ago and every thing looked good. They adjusted to the tank well and started hosting the sand anemone I have last week so I was super happy. Then about 3 days ago i notice that one of the clowns has a white film over its eye. It is still acting normal i.e. eats well and is very active. i went to the lfs and they said it is some type of disease. The problem with the lfs is that i live in Kuwait. The lfs has ok general knowledge but not the best and a lot of things get lost in translation. For example the called the disease white eye disease. So any help would be so greatly appreciated, you all are my best resource.

Any chance of a pic? Do you have an extra tank you can set up as a quarantine tank?

Is his eye bulging out or popping out.
Never heard of white eye disease.
If he just started hosting the anemonie it could have stung him before he was fully acclimated.
However pop eye will also produce a film over the eyes. Is there any source of aggression in the tank form any other animal. Was he fighting or biting other things?
I would set up a quarantine tank just in case.
You may not need it but i would just in case. for a false clown you could use a 10 gallon hospital tank

Thanks everyone I think you all where right it was popeye I did some more research and that looked to be the problem. Some sad news though I went home after work last night and was ggoing to take some pics and put the clown in a hospital tank and he was dead. So thanks again for everyone help and for future reference what should you do about popeye? Also on another note my other Ocellari clown started hosting last night so I was happy about that I will try and post some pics soon.

yeah, film over the eye is never a good sign. chances are it's a bacterial infection and that means the fish has a compromised immune system.

I had a Percula clown that had the same thing that you described.......I tested the water once i noticed the ailment and everything tested out perfect....only thing was that nitrates were slightly elevated ( i missed a water change after a vacation)...I dont think the nitrates would have caused this...Only thing i can think that happened is an eye injury from one of the rocks in my tank.

I have had a fish before that had a white film as well and all it was just a bubble and it wet away after a while. Doesnt sound like this was the case, and I am sorry for the loss.
