HELP! Monti digi...


Not sure whats going on here, I'll let the pics do the talking. As far as I can see, this is the only coral in the tank affected...

Any ideas?

Looks like RTN: Rapid Tissue Necrosis. Not sure why it would be happening, but I'd probably remove the coral, give it an iodine dip and frag off the healthy stuff and discard that which isn't.

Hmm... okay, what triggered it?
I had a fish die in the tank last week... fragged some zoas, nothing else has really changed. Water changes on regular schedule, all tests good.

okay wow, I just absorbed alot of info on this... it seems that it could of been any of a few different reasons.

Can someone explain an iodine dip process?

Fill a small container with tank water and use lugols solution to make a concentrate iodine solution. I think you can find the amount you have to use per volume of water in the back of the bottle. When your iodine solution is done just dip the coral in the container for 5-10 minutes and then rinse it with clean water from the tank too.
