Help me save this coral!

It has picked up a little since placed in the tank.

It has been in the tank for a day now. I got it on Saturday morning. I am worried about the discoloration at the base of the stalks.

The yellowish looking discoloration in the pics? Does it show signs of gross tissue necrosis? If not give it a few days and see if it snaps out on its own. If so you may want to cut the stalks above the bad area and dip it in SW with iodine added as an antiseptic then get it to attach to a suitable chunk of live rock or rubble, HTH , good luck

Check it over for signs of predation. Look for small nudibranchs that look very much like the coral itself. Check the base, and the rock it's attached to for egg masses. If you find any, pull them off manually, scrape the eggs off manually and then give it a FW dip in water that matches for pH and temp. When columns or stalks collapse on these types of corals it doesn't bode well. If it doesn't improve over the next day or two, take Doug's advice and cut the stalks well above the injured/affected areas and frag them.
