Help! I'm leaking

My topoff has been leaking since last night, not a flood but something that needs to be fixed. This is what the topoff system looks like
The john guest fitting is threaded and that part is "screwed" into the rubbermaid and silicone was applied to both sides of the fitting. It is now slowly dripping from the left under the silicone. I was thinking about finding a rubber washer and nut to screw on the inside of the rubbermaid like a bulkhead. Problem is, I've never seen a plastic nut that size, only the brass ones for plumbing. Is brass safe for the aquarium or will it leach dangerous chemicals? Anyone have ideas for a solution?

Home Depot must have something similar to what you are looking for, I would suspect.

yes try and find the right size if you can, you can also use the rubber gasket material too, this you can cut to size

I dont think that brass is reef safe. I would look at HomeDepot, Lowes, and ACE hardware. I have something similare for my kalk drip and i used some grey PVC glue and it worked out well. I had some extra laying around from when i built my skimmer.

brass is NOT REEF SAFE.

Try wrapping the threds of the JG fitting with teflon tape before you do anything else. I may have plastic nuts for the JG fittings here already, I will look through my plumbing parts boxes to see if I have any.

I'll PM you if I find any, looking for an o ring and a pastic nut.
