HELP! Flame Angel not eating
Yesterday picked-up a Flame Angel for $70 at the LFS. I have until close of business tomorrow, Fri 9/15 to return for an in-house credit....if I choose.
Problems with the Flame Angel:
> not eating, as other fish around it are.... tried mysis, FormulaII, two types of flake and nori.
> is has found a place around a rock and just "hangs" there and doesnt swim but 4inches away from that spot.
There is a BiColor Angel in the tank but they pretty much ignore each other unless they swim face-to-face and the bicolor just "noses" him a little (no biting, no big swimming fights).
The BiColor is swimming all over the tank and is eating like a pig. Both put in the tank around 48hrs of each other.
SHOULD I RETURN THE FLAME AND GET A $70 CREDIT TOMORROW WITH THESE KINDS OF PROBLEMS????

Good question. I have had both fish but not at the same time. They are from different areas. Flame Christmas Islands, Bicolor Fiji/Tahiti. Is the Flame breathing hard? My expereance is that if they are going to fight, it's pretty much on. Bicolor might be making the Flame nervous.

its not breathing heavy... it doesnt look scaried... it just "hangs-out" in a very small space around a LR. i've got 4ft of tank and it doesnt want to swim more than 4inches in either direction and wants to stay on "home-base"
tonight i've watched the BiColor swim by several times with little to no incidents.
if it still swmming in this small sapce come tomorrow afternoon, i'm taking it back for a $70 credit. too much money to watch it sit still, not eat, get sick, then die.

Did he eat at the store?
Usually the LFS will show you the little bugger eating before they let you take them home.
If not...it is a tough call, it has not been that long, but it is a lot of money and you want whats best for the fish.
He may die anyway if he is not going to eat, but you don't want the blood on your hands...

usually having two pygmy angels in a 4 ft tank isnt the best idea due to their teritory agression
I would return the flame for store credit

I second this feeling. Better get some other fish that will get along with what you already have.

I would likely return it too... two centropyges rarely get along. It does happen - but more often than not it's a fight.
Is it grazing at all? If it is, I wouldn't worry too much about prepared foods but if it isn't grazing, it's definitely not happy.
