Help! Coralife Super skimmer

Had it for about two months and its worked very well. One problem was once in a while it would quickly fill the collection cup and overflow. After the first flood I managed to put and overflow on the collection cup and a tube to a large container. Also thought I knew what was causing it to overflow, too high water level. Wrong even with lower water level once in a while bam it quickly fills and overflows the cup. Ant solutions?

Well one thing holds true. If airflow momentarily stops the water level will increase.

Well after searching topic from others seems shortening return flow tube may help reduce back pressure. Will do this and post results.

i agree with the air intake tube. also, sometimes feeding or water changes will make them go nuts.
but if it's happening at fairly random intervals, i'd really look at the position of the air tube.

I have not had that issue , But have heard of it before, I have been lucky from day one with my skimmer, I got to try it out first. and really liked it. But if I ever do a DYI one it will more then likely go to some other tank. They are good.

skimmers will do this from time to time. using epoxy in the system is a very common cause for skimmers overflowing. water changes are also a common cause. whenever doing something different in the tank it is a good idea to keep an eye on the skimmer for about 15min. this also includes trying new foods.

the wetter you run the skimmer the more you have to keep an eye on the skimmer.
