help! candy cane coral dying?

i just bought a green candy cane frag on saturday. Today the stalk part of the coral has turned an ugly green color/browish. the top parts are still a beautiful green. This morning i moved the frag to the other side of the tank , because i have read they like low to med flow and i think where i had place it was more of a med - high flow. I also had it placed at the top of the tank where the guy from the fish store told me ot place it. All my other corals .anemone are doing awesome - i have 2 frogspawns, 3 zoas, and a bubble tip. I have also noticed today that the green parts are open but look like they are starting to shrivel. please help, i would hate for it to die!

Welcome to TRT!

My candy canes and trumpets grow like weeds in med-high flow and med-high placement under t5ho lights.

no i dont think so, it just looks like when you buy veggies and they go bad - its like that ugly green brown color. but it doesnt look like it would come off, just shrivelled up . the tops are nice thought, still bright green.

Mine closed completely when on top of the tank I turned the flow off for a few days and put it on the bottom til it opened up then it has been awesome since! keep it on the bottom if you have a high lighting system, but they are sensitive corals! that is also the touchy one I can tell when a water change is due just by watching the lil guy!

if your frogspawn is doing fine, then the candy cane should be doing ok if they are at equal levels of light in the tank. what kind of lighting do you have?

the stalks are normally brownish-tan. sanity is probably the reason they aren't opening up, or that they are just getting used to the tank. Those corals are very hardy. give them time to get stable. oh remember not to change out all your lights at the same time. Do half then a few days latter do the other half. This way, it doesn't put as much stress on the tank.

yeah, its hanging down off our celing. Its an open tank. I was a little nervous about my children sticking things into the tank, but they have left it alone.
What is ATI? sorry i am really new to this hobby.
