HELP Anemone Suicide bid
Can anyone help me, my sand Anemone decided last night to go walk about and has managed to get sucked into the in-vent on my power head, I have taken the vent off and try as I might I cannot get the silly bugger to extracate himself. It seems to be still alive but do I cut the vent off or leave the nem to try and get itself out?

Trying to extract him may damage him further . Try to carefully remove all the parts you can and leave the PH in the tank at the bottom .
Sorry about that, but a very normal circumstance with nem's and PH's

Hopefully it will back out of the PH but not a normal outcome

Don't think it can back out, I have taken the part off the head and placed the nem back on the substrate, but it is stuck fast, entire head seems to be sucked through the mesh and no movement available.

Sorry to say it but that could be it for your nem. I've had 2 now and just when they seemed to be settling in they decided something didn't suit them and went wondering and either found the PH or hid away under the rocks away from the light. My first one found the filter inlet while I was away at work and I came back to find the water was brown and no sign of nem at all. I've made enough mistakes to NEVER want to put another annemone in my tank, which is sad as I love to see my clowns hosting but I can't take the idea that I'm providing anything less than the conditions they need. I once heard someone say that even the most experienced aquarist has little chance of keeping one alive for more than a year in a tank.
I hope that didnt sound too negative but nems are the thing I feel the most strongly about when I go into my LFS and unfortunately it's due to mistakes i've made with 'em.
I truly hope yours pulls through, but if he reemerges and is torn up too badly you need to consult a pro asap. When they are badly damaged they start releasing poisons into the water which is obviously a bad thing for the rest of your stock. Look very closely and see if you can see any substances leaking from it's tissues.
Best of luck, let us know how it goes.

Quick update, I arrived home last night and with the help of my wife we extracted the nem from his predicament, we then left him to recover in a corner for a while. This morning he is fully inflated with his remaining undamaged tentacles also inflated, so fingers crossed he might pull through...

Thats great news! Double check for any 'cloudy' substances leaking from his damaged tissues when he is next fully inflated... Sounds like you're gonna be ok though!
