Help! Advice Needed!!
Scott and I just moved into a new house and realized that we have a bug problem. We've been avoiding spraying because I have a 120 reef in the living room, and my understanding is that using chemicals can be devastating to a reef tank.
However, after killing a ginormous spider, two roaches, and several ants last night, we've decided that we cannot avoid it any longer. We NEED to spray for bugs. We live just south of Athens, in a rural part of Watkinsville. Can anyone recommend a type of spray or a method of spraying that will be safe for the aquarium? Is there any way that I can wrap the aquarium/fuge/sump to protect it? I can close the living room off from the rest of the house, and I can open two doors and two windows to ventilate the living room.
Please help me out. I'd appreciate any advice you can give me.

ive heard of covering the tank with a wet towel or something along those lines, talk to the bug people and ask them, you are not the first person to ask them, i promise. you might even be able to buy a piece plastic to go over the whole set up, just set some books and such around to keep it down. depending on what kind of spraying they do, it may not be that big of a deal at all.

Someone asked this a long time ago. I believe the answer was to cover everything with a tarp. As LevelDrummer stated...weight down the ends with books, chairs, etc.
Make sure you turn out the lights on the tank to. And try to do what you can about temperature as well. (maybe spray early morning, or later in the evening?
Wait the alloted time, plus some extra time to air out the house...then remove the tarp.

i think you only need to worry if your full blown fumigating (sp chck?) if its just monthly walk through and spray around the base of the room, there shouldnt be any sprayed into tank. i may be wrong and if i am, someone tell me, we have a bug guy come in everymonth and ive never covered my tank. maybe i should start.

go to a furniture stor and get a large plastic chair/couch cover from them then use dryer ducting to ventilate the tank to the outside... aw heck, randy will know better.

Which do you recommend Ran Ran. I imagine we would pay a company, but it will depend partly on what you say and partly on what Scott wants to do. I can definitely cover the aquarium. That's not a problem. I'll do whatever we need to do.
