Hello Everyone From Sunny Florida
Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. Your forums have been an incredible source of knowledge for me. I am looking at starting a saltwater but I am still in the research stage.
I figure the research now will totally pay off in the end. Well back to reading the forums. I am looking for some good research books and some step by steps if anyone knows of them. I want to make sure that I have as much knowledge as possible before making any purchases.
Thanks and nice meeting all of you !!

Wow...just not use to seeing Orlando, FL next to your name. :-)
Welcome aboard! You have inherited some great neighbors there Jeff. The Smiths's are awesome, and knowledgable! Afterall, anyone that puts up with me for several years has to be a great set of folks!

That is soo GREAT!!! Mrs Smith, where do you go for supplies and materials here in town ? I have been looking around and most of the stuff I have seen is really low grade. Any place on the west side of town...Universal, Metro West area? Or am I going to have to buy off the internet only ?

Welcome Jeff!
You are wise to do your research first.
IT can save you a lot of money and aggravation later!

Research Materials
Hi and welcome
I am new to saltwater and in the research stage. Here are a list of books my class and I have been using to begin research in order to start a saltwater tank in our science lab.
The Conscienctious Marine Aquarist by Robert m. Fenner
A PocketExpert Guide: Marine Fishes by Scott W. Michael
A PocketExpert Guide: Marine Invertebrates by Ronald L. Shiek, Ph.D.
Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forums. I am not sure about where to go for fish but there is an alligator over at the Navy base if is still around there that will eat dog biscuits. (How the heck would I know what those things eat) You are gonna need a bigger tank though.

Welcome to TRT..
Here are some good books to have.
reading is a great thing, going slow is a must with a reef tank.
dont forget to ask. the only bad question is the one you did not ask.

Thanks everyone !!
I will look into these books right away. Anything specific that will help those of us brand new that you would recommend. I am looking for some step by steps and explanations on what the different components are. Thanks so much for all that you have posted so far...ohh and alligators...hmmm well I have a bathtub not a pool, so i don't think I would be up for that.

Oh yeah..if you read only one book get that little 500 plus book of fish species and if you buy a fish rated a 2 it will die and if you get a 5 it will live.
