Heater Q's?
I am making my wife a Birthday wish list, and I figured that it would be nice to get a new heater since the one that I have was originally in a fresh water tank 5 years ago. I looked around Premium Aquatics and found the EBO Jager TS 150w Heater, but there was no explanation between the different wattages. I'm sure that 150w will be fine for my 46g, but would I be better off with the 250w heater.
We are just starting to accumulate some inverts, corals, etc, so I want to get the right stuff.
THX!

Hello, If it were me, I would get two 150 watt Ebo Jagers, I have heard great things about them. The advantage of two heaters instead of one is that if one dies or even stays in the on position, the other will either kick in (in the event that the other dies) or stay off (in the event that the other is stuck on) This is what many reefers are doing to make the best of a bad situation in the case where something goes wrong with a heater.

I'd go with the 150 recommended for tanks 40-60 gal. BTW the 250 is 4" longer. Ebo's are great heaters IMO. Bob

can not go wrong with Ebo Jager's!
the dual heater idea is a good one. if you go that route you want to get it so that if one heater stays on it is not able to skyrocket the temp in the tank. you need to get two undersized heaters. you want one of them to barely hold the temp constant. that way if one does get stuck on you will not boil the fish. and if one goes out you will be able to tell something is wrong.
mucking around the web, it seems a 125w EJ is rated to a 45g tank. i would think 2 of these would be a good bet. or one 150w EJ. i have never had a problem with an EJ except the time mine came unplugged somehow.
Question for you all!! inside knowledge going on here. what size EJ would fit in either a Bak-pak or Ramora skimmers?

I have a 50 watt broken Ebo Jager (stuck in the on position) that would easily fit in my remora pro, but I doubt that helps you out much, I have a visitherm that I could measure up to see, I think that it's either 200 or 250 watts, but I have a remora pro, are you thinking of getting the remora, or the remora pro.

I'm actually ordering a Remora in the next week or so. I never thought about mounting a heater in the skimmer .

just thinking ahead for you. you can mount them in the return side of the skimmers. it just keeps it out of the main tank for looks.
