Has anyone used Pentair Aquatics (Rainbow Lifegard) Inline filter modules?

Greetings aquarians,
In my current setup my fluval 404 is 6ft below & 10ft away from the water level/tank. Its recommended that the fluval should be placed no more than 3ft below & plumbing be kept as short as posible. My problem is that my cabinet is too small to inclose the canister or sump filtration units. then i came across this, Pentair Aquatics (Rainbow Lifegard). These units can be mounted horizontally & fit perfectly in the cab including a good pump. Now the question is has anyone here ever used these in-line filters with any success? Or is it possible to run a sump setup @ 6ft below & 10ft away from the tank? is the pump the critical factor here?

Oh yeah i have a 75gal tank

We use those modules, UV, mechanical, chemical, but we use them vertically.

Yes if your sump is that remote you are going to need much more pump, because you'll have much more head pressure to overcome.

I work with, and have worked with, several main floor tanks with basement sumps, and all have large pumps.

You still want to turn your water 8-10 times per hour, and most pumps have charts with their gph ratings with different head heights. Choose the pump that gives you the flow rate you need, in consideration of how many feet of head you are pumping.

I used a Rainbow Lifeguard canister pleated filter a loooooong time ago. I got it with a used 90 gal. system. I used it for a while but it became a pita to keep clean so the pressure didn't drop. IMO the really is no need to filter down to that small a particle matter. It catches some really fine particles. Once the filter clogs it can create a nitrate problem if not cleaned a few times a week. Also when it clogs it reduces the flow back to the tank. Reduced flow can lead to other problems. As you can see I'm not a big fan of canisters
