Has anyone done the FW dip to catch a mantis?
I found the rock that the mantis is in but I cannot get him out. I have tried squirting soda water into the hole and he will snap but he will not come out. Now I have a bucket of SW and another of cold Tap water... I sit the rock in the tap water for 5 minutes and he still doesn't come out. How long will it take before he will leave the rock?

If its really stubborn you may have to split the rock to get to it I had a few that usually bailed withing 5 mins, good luck

Make the salinity in the bucket real high and he will come out faster within 15 mins usually.

your not being patient enough.
just sit the rock in some saltwater without any circulation over night it will be out in the morning. the water needs to go anoxic to force the mantis out. they do ok in FW and really high salinity SW. they can live just about anywhere except in an oxygen free environment.
