That's kinda cool. I know garf.org is a very respectable site so I don't see them selling a gimick. Maybe someone out there has tried it tho.

Great people who really care. There frags are smallish but take off in a hurry. All their corals are farmed so it is hardy stuff. If you chat them up on the phone they tend to throw in extra corals free. Their site is an organizational nightmare but is packed with really cool, fun info and pictures.

These guys are the real deal and are very committed to the hobby. I think they will be open until they are too old and decrepit to continue. I have placed three big orders with them over the years and have never been disappointed.

I have heard good and bad things about their so called "bullet proof" tank method. Some people had good success, others could not keep it going. Keep in mind that it is a plenum system which may have some serious drawbacks over time as waste and nutrients build up down there. As far as their corals and GARF grunge are concerned, people generally like them but most consider it expensive for what you get. I think there are better values out there if you are looking to buy frags. GARF grunge may be no better than a scoop full of sand from any established tank. That's MHO.

I have had NEGATIVE experience with the GARF Grunge. I think all other products are fine, however, VERY pricey!

i orderd grunge awhile ago and i had never seen pods in my tank until 2 weeks after i added the grunge to my tank and sump, i havent really noticed too much else but im not really looking all that hard. thats pretty much what i got it for. only negative thing i can say is it was a little more $ than i wanted to spend and they're kinda hard to order from if you're not used to using a phone

It was just overpriced and very nonuniformly sized sand/mud that was not al ALL beneficial to the tank. I'd NEVER believe that there was ANYTHING live in the stuff! HOWEVER, when I set up my 180...I used cups of seed sand from other fellow hobbyists..THIS was FREE and VERY GOOD!

thanks.
i've looked at their site a few times myself, and as stated before, it's quite the challenge to find something there. not the most user friendly interface there is

i was thinking of picking up a cup of sand from the tank of one of the LFS... but both of them have aiptasia all over their tanks... so i'm a little hesitant to do that.
